Counselor Bio:

Thank you for giving me an opportunity to provide some information about myself. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Colorado. I received my Master of Arts degree in Counseling upon graduation from Colorado Christian University. Prior to attending Colorado Christian University, I studied at Metropolitan State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services.

I am a native Coloradan, having grown up in Englewood (just south of Denver).  I met my husband during high school, married soon after my high school graduation, and eventually moved to Thornton, where we raised two sons.

Counseling - it all starts with the connection.  I believe that my combination of life experience and education has resulted in giving me a unique approach to counseling that offers clients understanding, insight, and support.  My hope is to offer a compassionate and empathetic atmosphere where clients can feel valued and respected.  By providing a safe, accepting environment, clients are encouraged to experience and express their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. I recognize that resolving issues can be stressful and challenging. Therefore, my goal is to help clients address these concerns, worries, and behaviors through a collaborative relationship that allows a place where issues can be explored in a genuine, compassionate setting. This individualized, diverse approach includes the utilization of treatments and methods from various types of therapy, such as cognitive behavior therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and family systems.

I counsel with individuals and/or couples who are struggling with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorders, crisis and/or trauma, eating and/or body image concerns, grief, and/or marriage/family issues. I have completed the Prepare/Enrich training in order to provide premarital or marital counseling, and I have received crisis and trauma training and have over five years of experience responding to emergency situations.
